Pantone Colour of the Year 2017 | 'Greenery'

Pantone announced their colour of the year a while a go, yet I wasn't going to write a blog post on it. However, I have been noticing it becoming a popular hue in trends for S/S 17.

'Greenery', compared to last years soft pastel colours 'Rose Quartz' and 'Serenity', this colour gives a sense of vibrancy and freshness which is perfect for going into a new year. Pantone say that when choosing a colour of the year, they take time making sure that the colour will reflect the current events that are taking place in our global culture. So since 2016 was not a good year in terms of current affairs and world issues, a vibrant boost of Green is the type of fresh start we need for the new year.

On Pantone's website they describe 'Greenery' as:

"Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate."
Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally. A constant on the periphery, Greenery is now being pulled to the forefront - it is an omnipresent hue around the world.

Since this is such a bold colour, at a first glance looks difficult to incorporate into regular everyday situations. However, from catwalks and WGSN research I have seen how it can be used as a pop of colour that could brighten and enhance.

Here are some of my favourite garments, accessories and other pieces  in the shade 'Greenery'
