Luxury Meets High Street | Balmain X L'Oréal Paris Collaboration

Balmain X L'Oréal Official Lipstick Collaboration Ad Campaign
Speculation about this collection started back in May when L'Oréal Paris said that soon the public will be able to "Wear Balmain on their lips". Instantly hundreds of magazines documented their thoughts on this potential collaboration and whether it will definitely happen. However, yesterday to our surprise, the ad campaign for this collaboration was officially released, and might I say it looks amazing.
Being a makeup obsessed person myself, I am always excited for new collections and collaborations. Despite the fact that this is Balmain's first cosmetic collaboration with a high street makeup brand, they have collaborated with high street clothing brands in the past. The H&M and Balmain collaboration, released in 2015, was one of the most anticipated collaborations of the year as the collection provided Balmain quality pieces for a fraction of the hefty price tag. Due to the success of this collaboration, Balmain has definitely set the bar high for themselves.
Balmain X L'Oréal Official 12 Piece Lipstick Collaboration Shades
Usually lipsticks within high street makeup brands aren't very adventurous and consist of multiple shades of beige, one vampy tone and a red. In addition to this, finding lipsticks to compliment deeper skin tones is often a struggle when shopping in high street cosmetic retailers such as Boots and Superdrug. However, Balmain has completely solved all of these issues with their 12 piece lipstick collection. It contains a vast range of tones with nudes tailored to every skin tone as well as a staple vampy shade and a signature red. To top that off, the collection also includes some unique colours such as a blue, orange and green which are definitely not commonly found within the high street.

All of the lipsticks in their collection are matte, which is another bonus as this texture of lipstick is usually more luxurious feeling, tying into Balmain's brand.  It is nice to see that Balmain has carefully put thought into each shade and made sure that there is at least one shade cater to each race, showing that they truly believe in their brand statement that "United we are invincible."

Another thing about these lipsticks is that the packaging is really striking. On the high street, you can find really amazing cosmetics, however packaging is always something that seems to be a final thought and little attention is paid to detail. However, with this collaboration, it is clear to see that Balmain made sure that their brand translated through the packaging as well as the colours of their lipsticks. Whilst some of the packaging is a simplistic and sleek gold and black, other shades have a unique blue or green marble detail. Balmain as a brand always has a type of military feel with bold gold accents and green and blue details, which is translated to the clothing worn in the campaign image and the lipstick packaging.

Balmain X L'Oréal Ad Campaign
Overall I have high expectations for the lipstick collection as Balmain always provides quality and luxury, whether it is from their own brand or collaborations. In addition to this, L'oréal have some of the best lipstick formulas in the high street therefore I think that this collaboration is a match made in heaven. I can't wait to get my hands on some of these lipsticks, and when I do I will make sure to do a post on them.

Thanks for reading.
