New Year New Brief | Introduction to the Fragrance Project

I can't believe that I have completed my first term at University already! The time has flown by and we have been given a new brief. Unlike last year, we are working on one subject that will last for the rest of the year. We will work through each stage of the FCP process based around this subject.

The subject for the project this term is 'fragrance'. At first, I was confused because I thought that since we are on a fashion course, we would do something related to this subject. However, after the brief was explained thoroughly, I understood that we could have been given any subject whether it be fragrance or food because the main focus of this module is on how a brand is created rather than the product area itself. The project is designed to help us develop our understanding of brands and how they are created, researched, developed and promoted

The main criteria for this project is to create a new brand in the highly competitive fragrance market. In order to do this, we will be set tasks and we will research the market and identify opportunities for a niche scent brand and carry out all of the necessary stages that go into creating a brand - from the concept stage to the launch stage.
The project is divided into 4 tasks:
Task 1 – Finding Insights & Generating Ideas (Group)
Context and insight presentation on A2 mood boards - team
Task 2 – Ideas & Creative Concept Exploration (Individual)
Idea comparison printed A4 booklet – individual
Task 3  Brand Launch (Group)
Presentation – Adverts Print (A2 print) & Video
Task 4  Brand Promotional Plan (Individual)
Promotion plan booklet
I like the fact that there is a mixture of group and individual tasks because it means that we are able to generate and refine ideas with the help and input of others, as well as going off on our own and developing ideas further individually and exploring different ways we personally think will be the best ways to execute these ideas.

Overall, I can't wait to start this project and begin doing research and gathering insights.

Thanks for reading.
