Key Makeup Trends For Autumn/Winter 2017

Winter is quickly approaching, meaning that trends are beginning to change. From the fresh faced highlighted look that was very popular in the Summer months, the trends for this autumn/winter are the complete opposite. From the runway, designers have showcased a variety of different makeup looks, but here are 3 trends that I think are set to take over:

1) Blood Red Lip
The colder and darker months translate into the colours we wear both in fashion and in cosmetics. Whilst classic red is a timeless staple that will continue to be on trend all year round, vampy lips provide a daring contrast and is a perfect way to spice up any look or outfit. Attributed to the 80's and 90's grunge scene, blood toned lips perfectly emulate the rebellion associated with this era. This trend was seen all over the catwalk in shows like Giambattista Valli.

2) Vibrant Eyes
In cosmetics, it is definitely more common that people who want a pop of colour in their makeup usually go for a vibrant lip and keep everything else minimal. However, in A/W 17 runway shows such as Vivienne Westwood, Versus and Paula Knorr it was common that the lips were bare and all the focus was on the eyes. Vibrant eyeshadow colours from red and blue were used to accentuate the eyes and add to the outfits. Because of this, we are definitely going to see more people being experimental with vibrant eyeshadows this upcoming season.

3) A Rosey Hue
Blush has been becoming more and more popular, especially over the summer months and this isn't going to stop. This autumn/winter, the blushed look is set to be one of the biggest trends of the season. This look was shown on runways from Bora Aksu and Sophia Webster. The blushed look is very popular in Asian countries such as South Korea, as it is seen to provide a natural and fresh effect to the face and this has seemed to translate to the catwalk. Applying a sheer layer of blushed tones to the eyes, lips and face provide an effortlessly ethereal look, wearable for both day and night.
